PLEASE NOTE: Due to building works, access to the museum is currently only through the Cruickshank Botanic Garden. To access the Museum, park on the eastern side of the botanic garden and follow the paved path through the gardens, up the ramp and into the zoology building.

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission commemorates the 1.7 million service men and women who gave their lives in the First and Second World Wars.  It is one of the largest gardening organisations in the world.  This talk will cover the work of the Commission, told through an emphasis on gardening, at home and around the world.  From the early inspiration and vision, through the main features and planting in cemeteries worldwide, this talk will reflect on the last 100 years and look forward to how the Commission is responding to the challenges of climate change and how to ensure its cemeteries are sustainable for the future. 

The talk will be presented by Gavin Barclay, a volunteer speaker for the Commission. Please note that this lecture will not be recorded and there will be no live Q&A at the end of the lecture.
