Nancy Stevens: “Delightful, De-lovely & Deranged”

  • University of Aberdeen, Zoology Lecture Theatre Tillydrone Avenue Aberdeen, Scotland, AB24 2TZ United Kingdom (map)

After working for GEC, ICI and the RBS, and seen them all go downhill when she left, Nancy decided it would be safer for the British economy if she worked for herself and thus become a freelance journalist. She has had a lifelong passion for plants and gardens and for over 30 years owned several gardens of various sizes and topography, visited gardens throughout the world and retained membership of the Baldernock Gardening Club, where she was chairman for seven very enjoyable years.

Nancy will take us on a trip around the world looking at the wonderful world of plants: some useful, some that started out by being useful and then became nightmares and some just purely because they are so beautiful. From the super bloom of the Atacama and the Flying Duck Orchid of Australia to the 'Apple of Death' of Central America, the Red Spider Lily of Japan and all points in between.

Non-members are welcome with a donation of £3. For a link to a simultaneous Teams broadcast, contact Julie via friendsofcbgwebmaster@gmail.com

Refreshments will be served after the lecture
